Calvary Chapel Wichita was founded in 1980 with a vision to teach the Word of God faithfully and to reach the community with the love of Jesus Christ. Since then, CCW has grown into a vibrant fellowship dedicated to worship, discipleship, and outreach. We remain committed to verse-by-verse teaching of the Bible, allowing God's Word to guide our lives and ministry.
The Calvary Chapel movement began in the mid-1960s, as Pastor Chuck Smith took over a small non-denominational church in Costa Mesa, California. Adopting a verse-by-verse style of teaching, and emphasizing both the power of God's Word and the present-day working of the Holy Spirit, Pastor Chuck saw the church begin to rapidly grow. By the early 1970s, Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa was a central ministry in what came to be known as the "Jesus Movement."
